"This report describes development of a tri-axial mutually orthogonal broadband twin-loop receiving antenna for the HF band. The three twin-loops have been arranged so that they exhibit the same distributed parameters between themselves and ground. The upper frequency limit of the antenna is discussed and a method for extending the low frequency cut-off is presented. The antenna noise factor is calculated from measured data."Digitized by www.dtic.mil Topics: Antennas, Loop Antennas, HF, Radio communications, DXing
During the winter season 2011/2012, I meet a little challenge: try to receive atleast one radio station on every longwave channel between 153 and 279 kHz. Well, the result is not that bad I think. I was able to pick up stations on every channel, except for 180 kHz which cannot be received in my area due to Deutschlandradio's Zehlendorf transmitter on 177 and Europe1 on 183. In view of my less optimal reception place, some stations surprised me very much. Aspecially iceland and bulgaria are not... Topics: Longwave, Radio, Dxing, Sangean ATS909W

Welcome to the Shortwave Weekly podcast page! What I am planning to do for this podcast is to meld old-fashioned shortwave radio with new media. The format of the program will be somewhat similar to the DX programs that are currently on-air via shortwave such as Allen Graham's DX Partyline and Glenn Hauser's World of Radio. However, I want to make it more interesting and enjoyable. Aside from the usual shortwave news, receiver reviews, program changes, and whatnot, I will attempt to have guest... A rather strange reception recorded here- WBSC seems to have had a problem with the station automation and is heard continuously playing the Star Spangled Banner and their sign off message. Receiver used is a Sony XDR-S3HD. BTW, the second recording has the best reception of it. Topics: WBSC, DX'ing, Medium Wave DX, Long Distance Radio Reception, Bennettsville South Carolina

Two complete and one partial band scans, showing how the medium wave radio band sounded on the evening of Jan. 7th 2010 at Paxton, Illinois U.S.A. Radio used is a Sony XDR-S3HD. Some unavoidable reception noise is present. Also, due to my receiver being an HD one, it does cut out if attempting to decode HD radio. It did that a couple of times. "For nearly 70 years, the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) monitored the world's airwaves and other news outlets, transcribing and translating selected content into English and in the process creating a multimillion-page historical archive of the global news media. Yet, FBIS material has not been widely utilized in the academic content analysis community, perhaps because relatively little is known about the scope of the content that is digitally available to researchers in this... "Clandestine radio broadcasting is broadcasting in the language of the target audience from a station which does not admit to the origin of transmission or which attempts to mislead listeners about the origin. Such broadcasting has been used for decades by the U.S.S.R. and, at Moscow's behest, by some of its allies as a propaganda medium. For example, one long-time clandestine station, Radio Espana Independiente (Radio of Independent Spain) controlled by the then-exiled Spanish Communist...
